Hello All, thanks for this great site!

About Cor 2 Duo article, I don't quite understand the difference between Core_2_Duo and Core_Duo.

You wrote first that:

"Pay attention to not confuse Core 2 Duo with Core Duo. Core Duo is the commercial name for a Pentium M manufactured using 65 nm process, codenamed Yonah, while Core 2 Duo is the commercial name for the CPU codenamed Merom (for laptops) or Conroe (for desktops), which uses the new Intel Core microarchitecture."

But later on we can read:

"Here is a summary of the main Core 2 family features:

Core microarchitecture.
32 KB instruction L1 memory cache and 32 KB data L1 memory cache for each core.
Dual-core technology.
65 nm manufacturing process."

So, at this point I'm confused: is Core_2_Duo built with New Core Microarchitecture" or with 65 nm manufacturing process?

I'm not trying to be annoying; this is important for me because I'm out to buy a PC wich the store says has COre_2_Duo, but wich has a pamphlet where it's written: "65 nm Architechture"...

(By the way, if you want to see this, please link to: http://www.worten.pt/worten/main/home.jsp and go to Informática>Computadores> choose HP7670)

Thanks!
Pedro

Hi,

Core Duo = Pentium M architecture.
Core 2 Duo = New architecture called "core", which is also based on Pentium M's.

Both are manufactured with 45 mm technology.

For an in-depth explanation, read this one:

Cheers,
Gabriel.

I heard about the new core 2 duo chip's that are comming out:

e6320 and the e6420 they are the same as their counterparts e6300/e6400 but they have the 4MB cache, intel are dropping prices of the e6400 and 6300 and the 6420 will be priced round about where the e6400 was.

for more info just google e6420 new cpu or something like that.
