Hey, Well I'm new to the site and I have to say this is a very well informative site.
So I'm wanting to build a budget gaming pc for under $630, I know sounds pretty cheap, I have done some searching and have put together what I belive is a decent computer (I'll admit I am no expert but totally out of touch with computers).

So here are the parts.

$42.69 - CASE - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119115
- COOLER MASTER Elite 330 RC-330-KKN1-GP Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
$68.99 - MOTHER - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186147
- Foxconn A78AX-S AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
$81.99 - CPU - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103289
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ Brisbane 2.8GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core black edition Processor
$21.18 - CPU(fan) - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134
- ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler

$47.99 - HARD - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148230
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3160815AS 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive$53.38 - PSU - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817189005
- XCLIO GOODPOWER 500W 500W ATX SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Power Supply
$119.69 - VIDEO - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130360
- EVGA 512-P3-N860-TR GeForce 9600 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

I have the rest of the part like CD-ROMS/monitors/keyboard/mouse, etc.
So if anyone has any ideas or thoughts or even tell me if all the parts are going to work together it would be really helpful. Also wondering if these parts work will this rig be able to play the newer games, ie crysis/bioshock/fear?
Oh plus I will be most likly be getting someone to overclock it so i get more bang for the buck.

Thanks in advance

Tyler

everything looks good there kidd except the motherboard. i would replace it with a asus, abit, or msi. since u are gettin a nvidia card why not get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131320

its a little more pricey i know, but it has a pci express 2.0 slot for that nvidia card so u can have full performance.

and for the games: crysis-u can probably play that, i have a 8800 gts 320mb and i can play it ok. it has its days.

bioshock-well i never played that but i know u can run that with this new systen that your planning on gettin.

and you'll have no prob with fear.

u can run alot of the newest titles

overclocking is a simple do-it-yourself process

I agree with Gamer Z, you can buy that mobo he suggested or a 780G based motherboard, both better chipsets than the 770.

I don't know Xclio PSUs, so I'll remain quiet. :D

Are you sure that you need the CPU cooler ?
The AMD box cooler is quite good and quiet, if I were you I'd move this money to a better video card, like a 9800GT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010380048%201069633099%20106792522%201067942536&name=GeForce%209800%20GT&Order=PRICE)

Gamer Z

or the 9800GT like cheetos said. that would be better actually.

Hey thanks for replies helped me alot.
Ya I knew the motherboard was going to be an issue so I looked up some more and found this one? The first one isen't one of the ones youve suggested but I've heard good things about biostart wiether or not they are true im not too sure. Is ECS any good?

BIOSTAR A770 A2+ AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138106

And for the Video cards They don't have the same ones on the canadian site as they do the american? but the closest are these, but it has a lower core clock and memory Clock compared to the ZOTAC one (that's under neither these one)

And also I've seen this one

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500018

And the CPU cooler I do need since the CPU doesen't acually come with a stock one since its the black edition (supposedly you can get it to 3.1 - 3.3, which I thought was pretty good for a $85), plus I plan to overclock it a bit.
Also is a 500 PSU enough or should I try for 550 - 600?

(Before you write about this I need a motherboard selection first)
This is the wishlist, with some ram since the ram I wanted is now $120 for some reason and it really really screwed over my entire plan, so if you guys can look and pick out the best on it would be helpful. (plus which PSU)

ECS is good, but not best, biostar I think that's better, I heard good things about it too, but here Biostar is very uncommon.

Seems to be a good mobo, but if I were you I'll look for mobos with the 780G (here I comes again..), not just because the chipset, but because the SB700, much better than the SB600 of the 770 mobos.

I know, they'r more expensive. :o

My vote goes to the first, the 9800GTs are worthy for the extra 10 bucks and, if you can get the rebate the first eVGA is the better choice.

And the CPU cooler I do need since the CPU doesen't acually come with a stock one since its the black edition (supposedly you can get it to 3.1 - 3.3, which I thought was pretty good for a $85), plus I plan to overclock it a bit.

You want overclock, so the better cooler is wellcome, you did right. :)

Also is a 500 PSU enough or should I try for 550 - 600?

Don't let the total watts betray you, focus on the 12v Amps, that's the most important rail in today's PSUs.

120 ?

What about this ones ?

DDR2 1000, if you want to overclock the memories or the CPU with less worry.

Low latencies, good for the K8's

Just to pretend that I'm not a GSkill fan :D

This are good ones, but the previous are better costing almost the same.

k well thanks again helps alot, but still more questions.

For the mobo I have no idea what your talking about with the 780G and all the other things so I dont know what I'm looking for at all.

For the video cards does the core clock matter that much in gaming performance? since the ZORTAC one has a much higher core clock then the EVGA one. Oh plus the $145 (the one you picked), I've read reviews on it and everyone that reviewed it sayed it runs very hot and some had heating problems and the ratings aren't very good on it?

For the PSU I have 2 of them to pick that look like they have the most to offer.

k well thanks again helps alot, but still more questions.

No problems ;)

For the mobo I have no idea what your talking about with the 780G and all the other things so I dont know what I'm looking for at all.

770, 780G, 790X, 790GX.. are the chipsets, in this case (the same things can be different on Intel platforms) they controll the PCI-E lines. The SB "south bridge" controlls the HD ans USB ports.

The 770 mobos uses the SB600, that isn't a masterpiece of engeneering. the 780G uses the SB700, that is better than the SB600.

Yes, clock matters between same cards, like the 9800GT, the one wich have higher clocks is faster.

BUT, you'll only see this difference if it were big, like 10 or more %.
Other likable thing is a better cooler.
And other important thing is the reliability.

eVGA is one of the best manufacturers of nVidia cards, ZOTAC I honestly don't know.

The eVGA with bigger cooler is my choice. :D

DDR3 for AMD ?
Impossible yet, only next year.

There's no problem about it, the DDR3 can work at higher clocks, but AMD64s don't care about, they like low latencies.

Yes, GSkill is a very good manufacturer, one of the bests (but, like the others, is not free of problems)

Good parts ! :)

Both memories shall work with this mobo, but if I were ypu I'll check Asus website first.

The DDR 1000 can be "overclocked" bacause the faster memories that the 5400+ recognizes is DDR2 800, but if you overclock the HTT keeping the memories as 800 MHz, they'll clock will rise, and you can rise it up to 1000 MHz without stressing the memos. (of course, it can rise more :D)

Windows Vista.. well, the DX10 is not yet an requirement, there's no need for Vista, yet.

Ya so the 1000mhz one will work so I'm going to go with that one.And the vista ya I'll hold off until I acually have the money for it :P, also I have to downgrade the case which isent a big deal anyways.

But anyways Thanks a ton for all your help, if you ever need some help with psychology or the law look me up :P

For people wanting a similar price on a nice setup at this moment, this is still a great build but at the moment check the AMD 790GX boards that will more easily overclock.
I cannot recommend this powersupply cause I dont know it, but you could check out the Antec NSK4480 case that comes with a Earthwatts 380W psupp. very good price for the quality and this build will easily run on this psupp with room for impovement later on.
