Hi,

Can the smps transformer breaks down when on load??????Has anyone came across such a situation...

Yes, of course.

Transformers have a current limit and if you surpass it they will "open".

It happened to me several times here during our load tests with power supplies.

Hi,

Need your advice on this issue:-

"If a transformer rated 240vac 50hz being supplied by a source 240vac
60hz,will it get hotter than by 240vac 50hz source?..What if it is the
other way around...a 60Hz transformer plugged to 50Hz?

Note:-The trans are connected to the same load.

Are you talking about the transformer in a switch mode power supply? They run at a much higher frequency than mains, eg 200kHz. The mains is rectified to DC first, stored in a capacitor then 'switched' at a high frequency through the transformer. So it makes no difference to the transformer what frequency mains is on. Other components like the EMC filters may be affected though.
