In my other thread I'm piecing together a machine. It looks like due to the economy my wife will be taking more money then I expected.. :D Hey some things come first.

While putting this thing together in my head and on paper I'm coming across a common issue between the three items listed in the title.

So my question is:

Is there an easy way of finding out if a certain Mobo, Video Card and Case will accommodate each other?

I guess its more if the Vid card will fit the Mobo/Case. I mean it can fit the mobo but the case could have problems. It may fit the case but heatsinks/capcitors etc on the MOBO make it hard.

I know some vid cards list their length however if I dont know the clearance in the MOBO how do I know it will fit? (im speaking of running 2 video cards usually one will always fit)

I will assume with regards to a case if it is a full tower there should be no problems correct?

The Case<>Motherboard issue isn't a big one.. if you get an ATX motherboard, make sure the case supports ATX. Virtually all full-tower cases do.

Regarding the video card size, there are two great sources of info. First, the reviews here (and elsewhere) usually address this. Oftentimes, in shorter cases it requires careful planning, so the hard drives don't butt up against the card or its power connector. Another good source is the reviews for specific video cards on Newegg. Many users will post their success - or failure - regarding attempts to install specific cards in certain cases.

eeeek should have included PSU in that. Given the multiple configurations Im strapped to find that information.

Some cards I can find the lengths (reviews, manufactures page, etc) some I cant.

Couple that with just the way some of the MOBOS look with the heatsinks/capacitors right behind the second PCIe slot makes me nervous.. :D

Then the whole issue of the PSU that I forgot to mention in my original post. I will assume there are "extenders" for the PSUs...

O well I wass called and told my moolah would be mailed this Friday so in the next week I will have my order down pat and you guys will be the first to know what fits and what doesnt after it arrives...

:D

Thanks
