finally finished my budgetgaming rig
ecs geforce 6100sm mb
2gb 667mhz ddr2
amd am2 x2 3600
gainward bliss 7900gt pcx 512mb pcie
arctic cooler
8gig hd ide(i KNOW)
19 lcd samtron 12kx10k
i got all this for around 220 my question is if i use the limited oclocking facilties on the mb can i get a decent performance on games like bioshock crysis cod4 etxc

Hi there,

In my opinion you have a decent video card, a good CPU and enough memory.

The bottleneck on your system is, of course, your hard disk drive, and you HAVE TO replace it ASAP. Remember that everything has to be loaded from the HDD and when you have a slow HDD as it is your case it will keep your computer from achieveing its maximum performance. Overclocking your PC won't change the fact that you are using a slow HDD.

The price difference of 80GB SATAII HDD and 80GB PATA isn't that much. Go for SATAII HD.

thanks again i was vaguely aware of this but thought i could get away with it for a while
one more thing i won a power supply on ebay its only a 300w mercury switching atx it has 15 amps on the 12v rail is this adequate

300 watts isn't enough especially you're planning to run on 7900GT.
