Just experience the worst. My AMD stock HSF fell from the CPU heatsink retention module causing my Athlon X2 6000+ to burn and my 8800 GT slightly damaged due to the impact.:( (The culprit is one of Asrock's boards). See picture.

This experience leads me to assess the reliability of AMD designed heatsink retention module for AMD processors since there are only two "hooks" on which the clip of the HSF could be attached. Intel processors are cooled by stock HSF that are fastened on the board using four studs or clips which, to my mind, are more durable and reliable compared to AMD's. Well experience teaches something: I'll switch to Intel from this day onward.

Just my 2 cents: don't blame AMD but ASROCK for using cheap plastic.

Cheers,
Gabriel.

the stock HSF of AMD x2's are reliable.. the only thing that bothers me is the pipes of stocks which happend to be not well fitted.. I ended up cutting a bit of the plastic where the HSF need to be fastened (at the MOBO) and HWOALA..
