Not sure if this is a hardware or peripheral problem.I see
in the device manager I have a (?) next to SM bus controller
in "OTHER DEVICES". In the recources tab it states the device
is not using any resources as it has a problem.The details tab
info is "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27DA&SUBSYS_58428086&REV_01\3&61AAA01&
0&FB.

You need to install a driver to make this item to be moved from "?" to "System Devices". In order to do that, all you need to do is to double click this item and click on "Update Driver" and ask your OS to look for the driver on the motherboard CD-ROM. It will find the driver, confirm that you want it installed and that's it.
