I'm trying to network a laptop running XP with a Desktop running W2000 Professional.
The laptop has one network socket and wifi. I use wifi for internet access so the network socket is free.
The desktop has no LAN card so I have bought a usb to Lan adapter which is installed & discovered and driver loaded via CD.
I have joined the two with a crossover cable.
When I fire up the desktop, the laptop tells me the LAN is conected.
However, I cannot see the laptop in "my network places"
Any ideas?
Thanks - Jeff

You can add an extra $10 to what you would pay for a crossover cable and pick yourself up a decent switch. The scalability and ease of setup is worth the few extra clams.
