I currently have Corsair 2GB 533mhz DDR2 ram (2x1GB) running in dual channel mode but Ebuyer are currently offering 2GB 800mhz (2x1GB) for under £50 I am not interested in Oclocking so my question is will I see a significant performance increase if I purchased the 800mz memory to make it worth while buying?

No, you wont see any differnce at all, at best you will nock a secound of your start up time.

save your cash and buy a better graphics card.

Cheers for the advice, yes I will look at a direct 10 graphics card when ATI have some main stream cards out & some reviews of direct 10 performance games are out, so I can then see a comparisons between Nvidia & ATI.

Hi ianb,

Reidy is right.

We made several benchmarks here and even though there is a performance gain on the memory subsystem, this memory gain isn't passed thru the whole system for normal applications. You may see something like a 3-5% performance gain on Quake 4, but honestly we think spending money somewhere else (like the video card like Reidy mentioned) is a far better strategy to improving your PC performance.

Cheers,
Gabriel.

Not much of a gain at all, only trans rate between the MCH and Memory banks would be affected 2 my knowledge, Gabriels % rates of improovement seem very accurate on the gain u would likely witness. As far as the graphics cards go, this site has reviews on some in which give the best Bang for the Buck to date, check um out.
