Hi members
I want to know small info, among these processors which would be better.
AMD Athlon X2 5000+
AMD Athlon X2 5200+

I am in confusion, which processor i have to go.
Let u know pros & cons of both these processors.

5000+ provides L2 cache 1MB and consumes 65 watts power.Core thickness is 65 nm.

5200+ provides L2 cache 2MB and consumes 65 watts power.Core thickness is 90 nm.

If i go 5000+, i get less L2 cache, If i go 5200+, i get more L2 cache but
5200+ is based on 90 nm core thickness. 90 nm thickness is oudated technology.

Suggest a good processor among these 2.

I use a 90m, 5200+ and like it. If I could easily get myself a 65nm CPU I would in a heartbeat. I'd just want to make sure it still has the 1MB L2.

What are you planning to do with your computer? That'll really help in choosing the CPU.

There is no way to accurately measure architecture through specs alone, but if you ask me, although the 5000+ runs on 65nm technology, the pipelining may be based on the same as the 5200+. If it is, though I have no proof of this, Id go with the 5200+ due to double the cache size for the same power ussage. If the pipelining was edited and not just trans size, I'd definately have to take the 5000+ for sure. Ussually when you step trans size down you update architecture, since architecture is everything with AMD I'd be sure to double check the piping differentials if any. Good luck.

Actually some 5000's run at 89 watts on the 90nm, the F2 revisions

I really don't know how "true" some articles are from Wikipedia but someone
has explained perhaps why AMD discontinued the 90nm 2Mb cores ;it was more of a financial decision the ratio of low good yeilds from 90 Nm wafers and having to throw away more imperfect cores.
