Default Blow in blow out....

Ok I have a Thermaltake M9 case. It has a "window". The window has vents. One of the vents is over my dual video cards (4830s).

I have 3 fans. One lower front (intake) one mid back (outtake) and I put one on the vent hole over the video cards.

The fan over the video cards blows out. Should it blow in? I dont know the speed off the top of my head for that fan but it is slower then the 2 provided.

Also would it be helpful/advisable to dremel an outtake fan hole in the top of the case with a small outbound fan there? I also have another vent in the "windowed" side that I can add another fan to (in or out?).

I can "feel" warm air out the video card fan on the window and the outbound back fan. Im fairly sure my temps are "decent" even under play.

What im trying to prepare for is the warmer months ahead. My PC is in my garage and while it gets cold during the winter months (and easy to warm up as needed) it gets down right hot in the summer. I dont have AC in there and fans only push around air.

Thanks.

You can have it either way, with a few altering effects.
- With them blowing out you can remove the front intake fan. Since the heat from the graphics gards is removed through the side, the CPU will be pretty cool.
- With those fans blowing in you should get a slight decrease in GPU temperature, while the CPU temp could go up slightly. The front fan should remain in place.

Don't bother. It will just increase noise. You have sufficient exhaust as is.

Where is that went relative to the other components?

Cheers

There is a vent (with no screw holes) to the right of the fan that is over the vidcards.

There was an "air duct" on the vent above the CPU area. However with the Heatsink/Fan I have it was removed.

Thanks for the speedy reply.

With those extra vents taken into account I'd say your current fan arrangement is optimal!

The only modification that could be done to improve the balance of noise vs cooling is to have the case fan speeds individually adjustable.

(Then you can do other improvements, like opening up the fan grills and such, but I think that's a bit out of scope right now.)

Cheers
