Have scoured the net for an IR reciever/transmitter to fit to mainboard and can't find them anywhere! It seems like just what I'm looking for, but.....Haven't got a clue what to do with your circuit diagram! Did a bit of soldering at school (many moons ago) and sure I wouldn't struggle with that, but haven't a clue how to put together the circuit. Hmmmm... a few chuckles out there I guess! Anyways, could you recc any sites that can give a brief run down on the basics??? If I remember correctly, that board in the picture, doesn't it work something like all horizontal holes are 'connected'?? Alternatively, do you know where I could buy something like this? Thanks for any help anyone can offer. [EDIT] OK. Done some looking into this + reacon strip board is the way. I kinda underatand how it works, but do you have a strip board diagram? Just that I don't want to have too many stages I could muck up at - especially when I'm going to be plugging this into my PC! If I could get a correct stripboard diagram, that would be a start! But your suggestion was noted. I'd recommend you to buy a breadboard unit and play with it. All I can tell you is that each line on the circuit is a wire or connection. Cheers, Gabriel. |

Ever since I found the IrDA connection on my first motherboard I've been thinking of adding IrDA interface to my computer but never found a device that fit. As a tip for all of you that are on the edge of giving up I can tell you that I didn't buy the goods from Radio Shack but from a local store and I must admit that I had a lot of trouble making it work. The solution for me was turning down the connection rate in windows from 115200 to 56700. Now I am looking for remote control software that is compatible with this device. I have tried with WinLIRC but reading on their site it seems that it mainly supports serial devices connected to an external com port. Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions to WinLIRC or LIRC for that matter? Best regards. Andreas |
