Both of them have excellent sound quality, but neither of them have any audio input capabilities to support plugging in my iPod and I refuse to use any form of FM audio transmitter (it kills the sound quality). I have taken both of the systems apart only to find the same thing: lots of wires, of many different colors, running all over the place. I have found two constants in the set-up of the systems though: 1)One set of cables (10) grouped together, that go from the CD player to the controls (play, pause, etc.) 2)Another set of cables (5) that go from the CD player to the board where everything else is plugged-in/attached. All I really want to do is connect a cable, with a jack, in a way that I can hook-up my iPod to these systems. I know all these cables and their different colors mean something, I just really don't know what. I can take pictures of the various parts to assist you, just let me know what. Sorry if I have used various inappropriate terms, but I am really not familiar with audio jargon. Thank you so much for your help and let the suggestions roll! Felipe =) |

You want to add an "auxiliar input" to a stereo system that originally doesn't have this feature, right? Well, this is not so simple. The wires coming from the CD tray can't be used, because these wires don't carry audio signal but digital signals that were read directly from the disc surface. You would need to find out on the system PCB exactly where the exact point where the analog audio signal enters the pre-amplifier, but without knowledge in electronics this would be very hard. Anyway, post the pictures here and I'll try to help. Also post the pictures of the rear side of your stereo, I wish to make sure that your system doesn't have an "aux in" input but using a different name. Cheers, Gabriel. |
