Exclamation Watch out if you live in Australia.....

Just wanted to post this for any Australian's reading this article...

http://www.copyright.org.au/G026.pdf
This pdf describes Australian copyright laws in respect to video's and dvds.

The key point is this:

"There is no right under in Australian copyright law to copy videos or DVDs for “personal use” or to change from one format (such as video) to another (such as DVD)."

There is no "fair use rule" in Australia as there is in other countries such as the U.S.

P.S. I'm not a member of this site, i just wanted to let others know. I was under the impression up until a couple of months ago that we had fair use rules in Australia, until i came across the site. Our laws in Australia are so draconian!

Hi there,

Thanks for your input. Just to keep in mind that converting your own VHS tapes with your own personal mementos (like your birthday party) do not infringe any copyright laws anywhere...

Cheers,
Gabriel.

Default Help! Help!

Dear Admin,

I have read this post over and over and no luck. I would really appreciate it if you can tell me what i am doing wrong. I am trying to convert my old VHS from the VCR To my VIVO Video Card. I will explain and give you the specs and hardware i have. I Have a dual AMD 4400, 4Gig's of Ram, 2 ATI 1900xt and a X-fi Professional Sound Card. I have done the following on figure 12, 13, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23. My OS Vista 32-bit doesnt recognize the vcr (JVC hr-xvc26u). I tried running avivo and no capture device is recognized on the PC. Do I need another software or im i doing something wrong? Also, How do I know that the output on the Video card is receiving signal from the VHS. Please help!!!

Hi,

Your OS WON'T recognize your VCR simply because it isn't a computer device.

To get things running you have first to make sure that the program you are using is recognizing the video capture function of your video card (VIVO). From what you said, this isn't happening and here is where your problem is. You probably need to install a driver or something and/or double check that the program you are using can recognize the VIVO function from your VGA. The best way to go around this is to use the program that came with your VGA. Usually video cards with VIVO come with all necessary software for you to capture/edit videos and create DVDs.

Cheers
Gabriel.
