What exploded were the switching transistors. Also, if it was overloaded, the OPP should activate and shut down the unit, don't you agree? Cheers, Gabriel. The first one shows the PSU housing below the PCB, the second one shows the solder side of PCB, where you can see two SMD resistors that exploded (pointed out with the red arrows). Compare them to the resistors right below them to see the difference. Cheers, Gabriel. |

In fact it has two MOV's but since they are located in a non-traditional location (after the rectifying bridge and not before as usual) we didn't see them at the first time we disassembled this unit. We ask you our sincere apologies for this mistake. You can see the location of the two MOV's on the picture below. Cheers, Gabriel. |

I was also going to say if one blows up (or fails in anyway) I test another one (which also means it takes me a while to do reviews) to make sure I didn't get a bad unit just to be fair, but I see you are already working on getting another. This one may very well fail as well but at least then it can't be chalked up to a bad unit __________________ Paul Johnson [H]ardOCP PSU Editor | |

You are absolutely right and I will use the procedure you are suggesting from now on, i.e. if a PSU burns around here I will test a second one to make sure that it was due to a design flaw and not to a bad unit. Cheers, Gabriel. |

Absolutely the same. Huntkey Green Star 450 W is in fact a 360 W power supply that explodes if you try to pull 450 W from it. This time we taped the test in order to prove our claims. Click here to read the updated review, including the video. Best regards, Gabriel Torres |
