You nicely completely ignore the whole basic reason why this HDMI standard is pushed, it has DRM/protection built in, I don't quite see how you manage to ignore that.
Also in the article you say 5 feet equals 15 meters, that should of course be 1.5 meters.

Corrected. The correct value is 50 feet.

I also added info about copy-protection mechanism and also about licensing fees.

I didn't even know about the 15K +per key license fee BTW, I bet that's not welcomed by the manufacturers.
