I don't know how ground breaking this is, but it seems like a pretty big jump. Being able to create chips with a higher transistor density that run cool, creating the first eight-core processor in one chip, and altering the abilities of HyperThreading so it can work on higher core counts - it all makes me wonder. Also, it seems they are adopting the internal memory controller as well, which was one of AMD's few sterling attributes. I have been an AMD fan for a long time, but if Intel is developing everything new and adopting everything AMD invents, I may have to start reevaluating. I would think the only thing that Penryn still needs is HyperTransport buses.

I can't wait to see both the prices and the benchmarks for this new line of processor.
