haha. i stumbled upon this by accident when searching for webcam forums for my webcam chat blog. i guess the QA tester was a white dude and didn't think about the fact that not everyone in the world is.

I don't think that's racism, was just a bad idea in how the cam will recognize a face.

Someone albino could try it to confirm what HP said about "difference in intensity of contrast between the eyes and the upper cheek and nose"

To all,

It is hard to repeal the basic laws of physics, regardless of what is politically correct. More often than not, a white or less dark face is likely to contrast with what surrounds it than is a darker face. It is that simple. Now, if you were to go to something much more difficult to do, like metrics, then you would have a much more expensive process. Now, if the alrgorithm used had the ability to distinguish dark faces equally as well as light faces, but was deliberately blocked from doing so, that would be racism.
