I recently picked up the predecessor large format printer, the MFC-5890CN on closeout for $50. It has had no feed problems, but then I always flex & fan and set the paper in very carefully.
I prefer Brother ink jet printers for several reasons:
I found Brother after losing nearly $250 to expired cartridges on my HP PSC. I then bought another $80 of new cartridges and the printer broke before they were empty. I researched long and hard before buying another printer. I now have 3 Brothers, and collectively they are cheaper to run than that one HP.
Linux support is not perfect, on Ubuntu or Gentoo there are some file location fixups you have to do manually after installing the packages. Other than that they are spot-on, delivering all functionality (including fax and scan), and they are open source.

The one thing that you didn't mention, and I have not been able to find in any of the documention was just how much memory the printer actually has. As a loan signing agent, this is something that is posted on my profiles for Loan and Escrow companies to see.
So, Printer Mb Ram= ??
Thanks in advance.
