Smile one other note

Print the article before you start.

Fortunately I work on Cisco's a lot so the settings were basically the same
but it was a little different working in a web browser and the nomenclature
is a little bit different.

If you are a newbie then you better print page 2 before you start...all the info you need is there!

Thanks again! I added this site to my favorites and will let my buddies know about it soon!

Default Missing info on upgrading SpeedStream 5200

I have a 5200 E242 SpeedStream modem. Don't have any doc or info on it. Perhaps it is a locked one by a telco(?) that distributed it. It is a hand-down I got from a friend. I would like to try to turn it into a router as described in your link. The explanation looks great but I am missing the initial steps as to how to *start* the upgrade on a modem that I have seemingly no way of logging into it. I am guessing, but doubtful, that I need its current IP address and login info in order to start the firmware download. Or do I?

Thanks...

Default

Hello,

See page 41 from the manual on how to reset the modem. On the same page there are the instructions on how to upgrade the firmware. The manual is available on the first page from our tutorial.

Good luck.
