Default Sapphire Radeon HD 6670 1GB GDDR5 VGA

I just bought this Sapphire HD 6670 hoping that I would have better gameplay experience with Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm, Diablo 3, Civilization V Gods & Kings, Neverwinter MMoRPG and Company of Heroes Tales of Valor.

I was able to put these games into high settings but not more than 5 minutes these games freeze with the background music freezing as well.

Here are my other specs, I believe this could be a bottleneck issue. Please tell which one causes this.

My CPU is X2 64 5000+ 2.2 Ghz Dual Core, MOBO GA-M61PME-S2, SATA2 500GB HDD, 4GB DDR2 and generic 600W PSU.

I can play all of these games in medium settings only if I used my trusty Geforce Nvidia 8600 GT.

I would really appreciate any input I can have from all of you. Thanks.

Replace the power supply.

I just bought the FSP Hexa Series HE 500 with a peak power of 550 WATTS.

Is this fine for now?

It may work, but it seems to be a low-end unit that doesn't even have the 80 Plus certification.

Did you completely remove the drivers for your old 8600GT before you installed the new card? If not, uninstall ALL video drivers (and any related audio drivers for devices on either video card), shutdown/restart, then install just the drivers for your new card.

Thanks Sir Gabriel. The FSP box says 80+ though. It's alive!
Your suggestion resolved my problem.

And Sir Onus you would be surprised to know that all drivers related to my 8600 GT are still there. I did not bother them. As for the installation of the drivers for my HD 6670, I did not install the HDMI audio drivers, drag & drop those for decoders.

I do not experience the game freezes anymore not with Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm or CoH Tales of Valor and Neverwinter is brilliant.

Great to know to I was "right on."

Just a clarification. This power supply does not have the 80 Plus certification. It may offer efficiency above 80%, but it was not certified.

All the best,
Gabriel.

Thank you once again Sir Gabriel for this one.

Just found out that they took out the Hexa series off the US website of FSP but it is available on the Australia/New Zealand site.

More power to You and to all of us here!
