Default USB wire color match

Hi Guys

My monitor calibrator suffered a broken usb cord and I want to do a hack and replace the usb cable with a spare cable lying around.

Before I go ahead, I want to check with you people I i have the correct color codes...?

Original usb cable:
Red... +5v
White... Data(-)
Green... Data (+)
Black... Ground

Replacement cable:
Red... +5v
Brown... Data(-)
Yellow... (+)
Blue... Ground

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, there is no official standard for this.

Mmmm, that requires a bit of testing then. As the black wire on the original wire was broken, I was thinking of cutting off the usb hub and using the spare to re-connect the calibration unit.

Borrowed a multimeter. Spend a few hours reading up on "How to use the multimeter". Tested for continuity on the pins and wires. Had to hack away the rubber parts on the usb plug until I exposed the soldered joints as the pins with broken wires could not register any readings. Managed to ID the correct paths. Color codes were not standard as you mentioned.

Spyder is all good to go, downloaded the latest drivers and got it to work after several months in a broken-down state, considering that I almost threw it away. Not too bad for a IT moron, er?
