Default First Build, Opinions Appreciated

I am planning to build a gaming PC consisting of the following components:

- Intel Core i5-3570K Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 4 Core LGA 1155
- Gigabyte Intel Z77 LGA 1155 Dual UEFI BIOS ATX Motherboard GA-Z77-DS3H
- Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) 240-Pin
- EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SUPERCLOCKED 2048MB GDDR5 DVI HDMI DP Graphics Card
- XFX PRO 750W Black Edition Single Rail Power Supply w/Full Modular Cables
ATX 750 Energy Star Certified
- Seagate Barracuda 1 TB HDD SATA 6 Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal
- Samsung MZ-7PD128BW 840 Pro Series 2.5-Inch 128GB SATA 6Gbps SSD
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan
- NZXT Phantom 410 Mid Tower USB 3.0 Gaming Case - Black

My budget is $1000. This list goes a bit over--roughly $1100 at Amazon, which has best prices I've been able to find thus far.

Any feedback or advice would be most welcome.

Thanks!
Dug

You don't really need 750W. a 500-550W would do you. I quite like the Seasonic G-550, but an S12II/M12II 520 would also be good, as would an XFX Core edition 550W (re-badged Seasonic S12II).

Other than that, it looks great.

Thanks for the feedback! Regarding the PSU, I based my choice on this PSU calculator:
http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp, using the components listed plus a few upgrades which seem likely over the next 12 months:
- Overclocking
- 2 more sticks of RAM
- second 1TB HD (RAID 1)
- Wireless NIC.

I can easily see where any PSU calculator is going to err on the high side, especially since most of them seem to be on PSU manufacturers' web sites. That said, I see your point that 750w is overkill, given that this PSU calculator recommends 399W capacity for the components I am planning to use, with none of the upgrades I listed and 10% capacitor aging. Here is what the PSU calc tells me as I start adding upgrades:

- Overclocking to 4.3 ghz, vcore 1.25v: 413W
- 2 more sticks of RAM: 427W
- second Seagate 1TB HD SATA 3 454W
- Wireless NIC 458W

This is still well under what I originally anticipated, probably because I had not done
my overclocking homework yet and was pulling numbers out of my hat.
So, I set capacitor aging to 40%, and I get 569W, still well under the 750W mark.
At this point, would 650W provide adequate headroom, or is 750W advisable?

Thanks again,
Dug

If you use a PSU with entirety Japanese capacitors, they won't age much. I still think that a Seasonic G-550 would be an excellent choice. Remember too that those PSU calculators usually over-calculate. It's done mainly to make up for the cheap 250W units with 500W stickers.
