There is another weak point as well: It doesn't cool the VRMs.
I bet the VRMs were soaring hot on the GTS 250 while you ran the tests.

You are right...
But the stock cooler of the GTS 250 does not touch the VRMs, too.

works reasonably well on an HD5770 running F@H it gets to 63~64c the stock cooler was a little better but thats because it's an slightly bigger version of the VF900CU having 2x 8mm heat pipes and bigger fins
