Default reinstall problem with toshiba p500 windows 7 home premium

i'll be brief...upgraded windows 7 to 8 (microsoft tech did the upgrade) and the toshiba p500 had problems...we could not correct , so i went back to windows 7..still nothing but problems...long boot time,,5 minutes or longer...so i did a reinstall using the 3 discs i made when i bought the pc...still the long wait time..i then used a 7 upgrade disc...same thing..i did a reinstall using an iso file...same thing..when i look at the old windows file, there are 3..
so, is there a way i can delete all files on the hard drive and then do a clean install?
thanks in advance for any help...steve

Sounds like your HDD might be faulty. Run a full test with Seatools for Dos on it. It's made by Seagate, but will test any brand of HDD.

sorry to take this long to reply....tried to use the program you suggested...could not get it to copy to dvd...missing .dlls , etc...

i ran chkdsk and it showed everything ok

i hope you can answer this question, i believe there are file(s) somewhere on one of the two hard drives that are causing problems...

can i erase everything from hard drive and then do a clean install of windows 7 ?

thanks again...steve
