I don't understand why this PSU got a golden award.
1. From the label, it looks like a dual-rail PSU, but you identify that as a lie. Important or not, if a manufacturer lies, their products hardly deserve awards.
2. The unit did not meet 80+ bronze under realistic conditions. While that looks like a minor ding, I would think it still disqualifies it from a Golden award.
3. You were not able to find a price for it, yet claimed it is a "terrific option for users that want an affordable 650 W power supply." How do we know how affordable it is?

None of that makes it a "bad" PSU (as your testing clearly shows), but I just don't think it deserves your highest award.

I totally agree with Onus, but think the lack of price and availability is the main problem.
Also, having only one cable with the regular Molex connectors is a problem, since these, unlike SATA power plugs, are often used all over the place to feed fans and other peripherals.

(Also there's an error in the table of load tests. The line "Efficiency" gives a third power value (the apparent power?) and all lines below are shifted one step down.)

Cheers
Olle

As Ollus said; the load table is messed up Gabe.

Though, from this unit; it is a surprising result to see the ripple on the 3.3v rail kept in check so well. Consider the GX 650 (Based on the same platform) reviewed by [H] went out of spec.
Same with all GX 750's reviewed.

You guys have to understand that our awards are always given based on the market segment that the product is targeted. This power supply is an entry-level product and, as such, it is a decent product. Of course you can't compare it to the performance of more expensive units.

Thanks for pointing out the error in the table, I fixed this.

Gabriel.

"Performance" aspects such as availability and pricing compared to similar products is very much comparable.

If this PSU is available only in a few stores worldwide, at prices >$100, it's simply not a recommended purchase!

Hum... You are right... I will downgrade the award to Silver, mainly because of availability...
