It would be interesting to use one of those Zalman ring mounts to allow testing of the AMD stock cooler(s) on the same Intel CPU.
I have the impression that the higher end AMD coolers (e.g. like with the 970BE) are louder, but also cool better than the Intel stock coolers. True?

Depends on what Intel stock coolers you refer to. The high end Intel cooler DBX-B is definitely better than any AMD stock cooler.

The AMD coolers for >100W TDP (here up-side down next to a Ninja 2) are definitely better performance than the Intel coolers for <100W TDP (here next to the same Ninja 2).
