Post Knock-off Replacement Laptop AC Adapters

Hello!

I would like to request an in-depth review of the ubiquitous knock-off laptop AC adapters seen around the internet for less than $10, especially on sites such as eBay.

Similar to the computer power supply reviews, seeing the difference in protection circuitry, heat dissipation and the performance of these adapters under load would be extremely interesting.

Also seeing if these adapters can produce the correct wattage would be very helpful.

These cords have a generally bad word-of-mouth reputation for premature failures, overheating and under-performing, but I am having a hard time finding a good scientific breakdown of what goes into these ultra-cheap power cords.

Thank you for the enlightening and excellent website!

I think the batteries is more of a problem. You get universal chargers etc etc but not all lappies use the same battery. So one knock off might be perfect a other might being laughed at by your battery

This isn't really about the universal chargers, it would be more about the knock-off cords, such as these:

http://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Ad...dp/B000NNL940/

http://www.amazon.com/Brand-Replacem...dp/B00111GKAQ/

All of the above are Dell adapters, but there are similar cords for HP, Toshiba, and the rest.

That would be excellent! This is something that I have really had a hard time finding hard information about.
