Default Is it possible to Connect 2 Sound Cards?

Hello everyone. I know its a old thread but people here seems to understand this subjects a lot and I tried to google in foruns and still havent found an answer.
I have the Creative X-Fi Xtremegamer connected to a 7.1 Creative speakers (it has no optical out) and the on board sound card (VIAź VT1828S 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC) that has optical and coaxial out. Is it possible to have the onboard card connected to my home cinema and the X-Fi connected to my creative speakers at the same time?
This way I could watch movies with my new projector and hear them in my home cinema and play games in my monitor and hear them in my speakers. The home cinema is a dvd and a home cinema from sony it has no hdmi input but has digital (toslink). If it is possible, how to configure it?
Thanks in advance for your opinions

Andre

In theory it is possible, but I've never tried. So I guess you could do some tests to try this yourself!

Some of cards of the same series can be put together, up to 4 units on a PC.
Cards from different brands can certainly be installed, but they will work "in rotation".
