Edit: A question though. It doesn't shut down when overloaded? Does it eventually burn? Go out of spec? What happens?

Onus,

As soon as we saw that wattage started decreasing instead of increasing (meaning voltages started go out of spec), we decided to go back to the previous configuration, so we didn't push the unit further to see if it would burn this time...

If it doesn't shut down gracefully when overloaded, does it really deserve a Gold award? What might it do to attached hardware if it instead goes out of spec?
