Default Nvidia physx installed alongside catalyst drivers?

This is probably a noob question but i just noticed this listed in my installed programs list when i was cleaning out some junk, NVIDIA PhysX v8.10.29. I am running a 4870 radeon should this program be installed on my comp? I had a nvidia card installed prior to the radeon and i am assuming this is a remnant from that install. Can i safely remove it?

Yes. A different driver for a different hardware set, written by a direct competitor no less. Leaving it installed will likely do no harm, but deleting it will free up disc space and perhaps some RAM if Windows is still loading the driver - which should remain inactive as there's no hardware for it to initialize and turn on.

These software writers REALLY need to work on their uninstall programs.

Agree. In fact, we have to use a program called "Driver Cleaner" when we switch video cards during our tests, to make sure old drivers won't interfere with newer ones: http://www.drivercleaner.net/

Thank you for the replies, I have used drivercleaner in the past on different pc's without issue but i believe I read somewhere that it can create problems so I havent been using it lately. I am pretty sure Gabe knows a thing or two about these computer thingies though, so i'll give it another shot

Just wanted to say that this file is installed every time i boot up the game borderlands through steam. It is one of those nvidia branded games and if i refuse the install when it prompts the game will not run. Strange but true.
