Since I am looking to build a new system this year your motherboard previews have been very helpful.

I realize you haven't yet previewed the MSI Z77 boards yet but they seem to be better priced than the ASUS boards with less fluff features. Though ASUS has the reputation of better support software especially in this new era of UEFI BIOS and fan control software.

Hopefully you can upgrade your preview comments to include the motherboard's bundled software as I for one would like to know if the convenience is worth swaying my decsion of which board to buy.

Merman,

MSI took forever to reply to our requests, but they finally sent us a sample. We should be posting the "first look" article for their product very soon, stay tuned!

Gabriel.

Thanks for including the 'master' spec sheet for all of ASUS's Z77 motherboards. Newegg doesn't include the voltage regulator, so remembering what I'd read on voltage regulation on HardwareSecrets, I counted phases on the motherboard pics. Then I found this article which confirmed what I'd counted.

IMO, the voltage regulator often gets overlooked for shiny like extra USB 3.0/SATA 600 and other widgets (and don't forget the colours!).

Also for your amusement, the Tom's Hardware states 12 phases (8+4), not (12+1+1+4) despite the picture showing the 12 and 4 chokes. /facepalm

Tom's Hardware, in general, is not a credible website for many years now. The only two writers there that are good are Chris Angelini and Patrick Schmid.
