Default total confusion?

There is the possibility of a Double Catch-22 even after reading this article.

For instance, I Googled "Cougar CMX 700" which came back with Newegg as the 2nd choice (tada! HardwareSecrets was the 1st). Newegg's site showed me the original (bad review) power supply with the rounded nylon cables.

I then went back to Google, and added V2 in the description. Results again were the same. Google's 2nd choice ..Newegg. Clicking from Google, it sent me to the exact same power supply, the non-V2 version.

I then did a search on the Newegg site for Cougar CMX 700 V2.. and it is the very same (bad review) power supply.

Does Newegg have 2 versions of the CMX 700W, and if so, are they just pointing to the same (original) photo or are they holding off until they sell whats left of the original?

To sum up, if you don't read Hardware Secrets.. you might be screwed!

With no price listed for North America, I thought your policy was to withhold awards since a value determination could not be made...?

I can't say I was totally impressed by the Teapo caps in there. They're better than Fuhjyyu/AsiaX/JunFu, but I do often see power supplies with busted teapo caps on the secondary side.

Hi guys,

Yes, this naming confusion is the main drawback for this unit. As for the price, notice how Newegg.com dropped the price of the flawed unit from USD 110 to USD 90. The V2 should be sold for the same price as the original unit (~USD 110), however I couldn't get an official confirmation from Cougar so far. At this price range, it is a go!

Thanks,
Gabriel.
