Default New to PC gaming, need help with parts!

Hi, New to the forum and new to PC gaming!

I am looking to build a computer for gaming to replace my Xbox 360! I have a Macbook Pro which i use for work as well as everyday needs, so the computer will only be needed for games.

I am looking to budget about 500-600 ($750 - $900) I won't be needing a monitor or anything else in the budget, this is solely for the tower and its components.

But like i said, i am completely new to this so as many opinions as possible would be greatly appreciated!

Personal demands from the computer:

I would like the motherboard to have Wifi as using wireless is my only option. Or allow a wifi card in the budget.

I would also potentially like a motherboard/sound card with an Optical audio output so i can use my Astro Mixamp to achieve digital surround in headphones.

I would like the graphics card to be powerful enough to keep up with modern day games. I'm not overly fussed about being able to play on the best settings, just wouldn't like slow FPS or having to turn settings down too low.

From doing a bit of reading into this, i started my wish list off with an Intel i5 3570k processor and as far as graphics cards go the GTX 660 ti or the HD 7950 seem to be the top contenders.

Any help/recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Intel Core i5 3350P
ASRock B75 PRO3
2x 4GB DDR3 1333MHz (Any 1.5v module, any brand)
1TB WesternDigital WD10EZEX
Sapphire HD7850 1GB / ASUS GTX660 (non Ti)
TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wi-fi card
LG DVD-RW
Seasonic SS-650AM

This will satisfy your needs i'm sure. Example 1{HD7850 1GB ~180$}. Example 2 {GTX660 ~210$}.

Awesome! thanks a lot! Just curious as to why you feel the HD7850 would be better suiting than the 7950? and why the non Ti? over the 660 Ti?

Cheers

As for HD7950, frankly, there is no room for it in the budget you set, and as for GTX660 vs GTX660Ti, well, because of 100$ difference, and less than 10% difference in performance in GTX660Ti advantage(witch can be easily eliminated with OC of the GTX660).

I would go with one of these, depending of the amount of money you want to spend:
1) i5 3350P + B75 + HD7850 1GB (cheapest option)
2) i5 3350P + B75 + GTX660(non Ti)/HD7870
3) i5 3570K + Z77 + GTX660/HD7870 XT

Great specs.
Just one thing dough, buy WD10EZEX instead of AAKX. Only 10$ more expensive but has 1TB and is quite faster. Also, if you do buy this, buy 212EVO with it.
