Default Crossfiring on SLI-Ready Boards

Hi! It's quite obvious from the title of my post that I'm new to the concept of the technology (and I doubt if I would ever use the same). Three questions for you guys:
  1. Would ATI graphics cards work on SLI-ready boards?
  2. If ATI graphics cards work on SLI-ready boards, would crossfire work in them as well?
  3. Would say an HD 2600XT GDDR4 work in crossfire with an HD 2600 Pro GDDR3?
Thanks in advance for your patience in answering my noobish questions! Cheers!

Hiya,

You don't need to use both bridges when Crossfiring two cards (at least not with the HD 3000 series), and you can run CrossfireX with only 2 PCI-E slots using two 3870X2 cards (or the upcoming 3850X2).

Thanks for the reminder. The problem is that at first AMD was using the name "CrossFireX" for the 4-way CrossFire systems, but now they changed and are using the name "CrossFireX" for any CrossFire system, including the old ones.

I'll try to update this ASAP.

Cheers,
Gabriel.
