Hi, Thanks for this article, but when I conected the CD ROM in my car, this only run but doesn't play the music cd.
I connect like the diagram and work ok, but doesn't play, somebody have the answer at this problem or can gime others clues.

Some CD-ROM drivers has only an eject button, do any one have a circuit diagram to a CDROM control kit like the one at this link :

Is there any way to use a CD drive without a play button? My own guess would be that it's not possible without constructing an IDE controller to tell it to play - or is there something that could be jumped on the circuit board?

Sorry, I followed the above link to http://www.audiokit.ro/cdrom.html - which sells a controller board. Surely that defeats the object because it's more expensive than just getting a CD player??

Hi there,

Maybe you can add a "play button" to your player. I've seen some CD-ROM units with a play button internally, i.e. if you remove the frontal frame, you may found a connection to add a "play" button.

To remove the frontal frame, push eject so its tray will be fully opened, turn off the unit, remove the frontal "door" that is attached to the tray end and then remove the frontal frame (just push the plastic clips that hold the frame to the CD-ROM housing).

Then take a good look on the PCB found there. Maybe you will find a place for installing a play button there (I've seen this on some units).

try this
CD rom IDE port,connect push buttan to right side last 2 pins. (up & down pins).it can use as play butten
