upgrade AMD Athlon 3500+ to 3800+?

right now my mobo is using an athlon64 cpu 3500+(2.2Ghz) socket 939 with 400 Mhz f.s.b.Is it a feasible switch to go to the 3800+ cpu(2.4Ghz) without blowing up?

The Socket 939 supports up to the 4800+ so dropping in a 3800+ is easy.

When changing out the CPU make extra sure that the base of the heatsink is cleaned of ALL thermal compound. Apply a fresh application of Artic Silver 5 or a thermal pad and secure the heatsink before applying power.

Thanx ebackhus,..it's not a substantial boost,but an easy switch for a noobie(just finished compsupport course).Just got ok'd for a helpdesk/desktop support job for large corpThis is a better info forum than "sadikhov"

I wish I could get a job like that... My abilities and talents are going to waste as I spend most of my day showing people the mysteries of copy-paste operations and how to type an address into Internet Explorer.
