xp shared folder NOT Refreshing???

I recently built a new pc, and i set it up like i always do, i have folders shared to play my videos on another pc else where, the folder is for shows that get recorded thru my pvr using beyond tv, and also i d/l my video podcasts to it then watch them, but heres the odd thing which i never seen before, is that once i d/l one of the video podcasts, either from rev3 or dl.tv, i cant play them on any other pc then the host pc that has the shared folder, UNLESS i unshare/reshare that folder, i even renamed the folder, still wont play unless i do the deed...what could cause this?

Hi there,

One quick question. When you put a new file on your shared folder, does this file appear to all other computers? If yes, what is the exact error message that appears when you try to access this file? If no, one trick may be hitting the F5 key with the shared folder opened on remote computers or trying Start, Run, \\Computer_name\shared_folder\name <enter>

ys i can see the file, just cant play it, unless i unshare/reshare

I have no clue, why this is happening!! can someone help me? ok i deleted the folder, seems if i even move a podcast d/l video out of the folder then back into the folder it plays the file also, what the F*****! this is maddening! I thought it might be my nic port so i changed to another, nope, also diabled nvidia's 1st packet & network teaming, i used t b/c i have that kind of board, but still happens!

ok, hope i can get more help after i seem to narrow the area of the issue down, it seems that the video podcasts that are d/led from firefox in divx or xvid wont play from the shared folder on the network unless they are d/led from ie 6, i dont have 7, it sucks..., another odd thing is that if i d/l the video podcast in wmv or quicktime on firefox they play, but cant do that because not all my podcasts offer those formats/wrappers... So i did clean uninstall, remove the reg entries, folder in documents and settings areas, ran reg mechinc, then rebooted, then installed a clean copy of firefox..still wont plat them!

still having issues, even after reinstalled the pc, could it be my on board nic?
